Default Tactics and Strength

If i am not using any skills or equipment that is directly linked to tactics or strength do I need any points attributed? For instance, does strength or tactics affect damage delt?

Strength is a warrior's "primary attribute". Each class has one primary attribute, which only affects you if it is the one for your primary profession (example: a warrior/elementalist has a strength attribute, but not an energy storage attribute. An Ele/Warrior has a Energy storage attribute, but not strength). So, yes, strength affects a warrior even without using any skills tied directly to strength. Tactics, I don't think so.

direct from the GW manual: "strength increases the armor penetration of your attack skills by 1% per attribute level. Strength also improves the effectiveness of skills that keep you alive, and those that inflict damage on your opponents".

edited for spelling, which I wish more people would do.

if you dont use skills from strength do not bother with putting points in it for the armor penetration bonus its not worth it.

To put it simple... if you're a Primary Warrior, you NEED Strength. No matter what weapon you use, the Warrior derives his power from Strength. If you don't have a shield (because you're using a two handed weapon) then don't worry about tactics.

If you look at most of the warrior weapons, they have a strength requirement. You can use them if you don't meet the requirement, but you won't get the full effect of the weapon.

No, warrior's weapons have weapon mastery requirement. They don't have strength as a requirement. So you don't need any point in strength to be able to wield them, just need point in either sword/axe/hammer mastery. Some shields (defender, tower shields) do have strength as requirement.

This is true... but without the Strength attributes, you wont be able to dish out the maximum effective damages even with full mastery in your art (Sword, Hammer, or Axe).

You're right. I must have had a mental malfunction. Must not be getting enough sleep. Gotta stop staying up so late playing this game.

I couldnt not disagree more. If you are going to use strength skills then it would be wise to devote some points to strength; but if not all your getting is 1% armor penetration per level, and I believe that is only when you use skills. Not even close to worth it in my book.

It would seem to be that speccing in strength would really depend on the warriors or the groups build, obviously if a groups damage focus is armor penetration it would be wise to be specced in strength. I think one thing alot of players tend to over look is the ease of changing your spec around in this game. The main reason respeccing was made as easy as it is, is for players to be able to change to fit a build of the group they are joining/forming. Dont be afraid to experiment and see what you think of a spec. All it takes is a little exp and you can respec again if you dont like it.
